Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, occasionally with prohibited symbols, they reported in a release.
Police report they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The fluid had been drawn in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Officers then located multiple other marked vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the fluid was likely human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; authorities are presently not aware of any physical harm in association with the incident," they stated.
City officials said they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.
A senior political figure commented the incident rendered him without words and had to be addressed promptly.
"This incident strikes at the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the killing of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of immigrant origin in five years prior.
